The only key to happiness

"EXCESS OF ANYTHING IS BAD.”

This proverb is a complete paragraph in itself. But the problem with us is that we always think in extremes. We want that our life become full of happiness and there should be no bad moments, bitter experiences. But the reality is that these things are part of our life too. We cannot avoid miserable moments as life has both ups and downs. We cannot change this but we can accept this. Accepting down moments of our life will make the things not easier but definitely simpler.

If we do not know what is struggle how can we experience the success. For example, if a child use to stay in air-conditioned room for 24 hours. He cannot enjoy the coolness of AC completely. He cannot realize the value of coolness. On the other hand, if there is another child who has returned home after playing a couple of hours in sunny afternoon. He will enjoy and admire even a fan. That’s why both ups and downs are equally important in life.

For happy and stable life, we have to maintain balance between both the extremes. Some of the things in which we should maintain balance are ---

1. Balance between practicality and emotions

2. Balance between career and relationships

3. Balance between fearlessness and fear

BALANCE BETWEEN PRACTICALITY AND EMOTIONS

While taking any decision, we think that whether we should think practically or emotionally. Whether we should go with facts or with our feelings. The reality is we should not consider only one of the above. We should keep both the concepts in our mind while making any decision. A person should not be so practical that he begin to find ways to take advantage of everyone and everything. He should not keep his feelings and morality aside. Neither one should be so emotional that any one can make fool of him and take advantage of him. He should not ignore all the facts and blindly follow any one person or ideology.

BALANCE BETWEEN CAREER AND RELATIONSHIPS

Both career and relationships are equally important in a person’s life. Neither can be neglected, otherwise, the person will have to regret. Career and profession gives money to lead our life comfortably, to be secured, to fulfill our requirements, dreams, wishes etc. Money is important to secure our family and to fulfill their requirements. we also build our identity and get dignity in society through our profession.

But at the end of the day, we need our family and loved ones to share your happiness, success, sorrow and many different types of emotions with. We are social beings and not a machine. We need love, sympathy, emotional support and mental peace, which are provided by good relations. We generally take our relations for granted. We think that this is the time to pursue our career and make money. we indulge ourselves in our profession so much that we use to ignore our relations.

For happy and contented life, career and relationships should go hand in hand.

BALANCE BETWEEN FEARLESSNESS AND FEAR

It is said that we should not be afraid of anything. We should be fearless and overcome all our fears. Fear is an emotion like all other emotions, which is with us by birth. If nature has inculcated this emotion in us then surely there would have some reason behind it. Actually, fear is for defense mechanism. Fear protects us from dangerous consequences. For example, if someone goes to the edge of a high mountain, the idea of repercussion scares him. This fear of 'what will happen next' should be there otherwise it may lead to dangerous results. Complete fearlessness is not a good option. There should be some fear but obviously not a phobia. This fear makes us think before doing something. It helps us in taking calculated risks rather than taking pointless risks.
